Minutes (hot or otherwise), hours, days and now two months have flown by since I last contemplated writing. I wasn’t ignoring writing, on the contrary, I have snippets and half developed ideas jotted in my notebook.
I have been living and hope to be able to convey this summer into writing later on. So many cool things.
But I am still playing catch-up.
I no longer can fruit and veggies but I have enough from my CSA that I need to take care of them. I do enjoy having food frozen or dried for the winter.
My small backyard lawn was not good grass and we are on water restrictions, so I ripped half of it out. I wasn’t planning on this project but I am liking it. And the bonus of physical labor (odd object lifts, I’m looking at you) is an excuse to be outside.
I have spent the day making art and meals. Time is elastic: the minutes fly by when I am drawing but drag when I am making food. Cooking is fine, I guess, but then I have to clean everything up. If I was crazy rich I would have meals done for my daughter and me. Were I Queen I would forfeit all the jewels to never have to set foot in the kitchen again haha.
My hummingbirds have been gone a few weeks now. Northern Flickers and the occasional Great Horned Owl have moved in. Chickadees are vocal and the squirrels are running the fence line with pine cones in their mouth.
This owl snoozed and watched me for about fifteen minutes.
Armstreet is up and running and they have great clothes for quality Halloween costume needs. Or, you can buy a sleeping bag for fighters (five of their staff are on the front lines).
